PRINCETON – David "Boy" F. Gagne, Sr., 76, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Sterling Village, Sterling after a long illness.
He is survived by his former wife, Lillian E. (Oberg) Gagne of Rutland; a son, David F. Gagne, Jr. and his wife Cristine of Westminster; five daughters, Denise "Dee" Wohlander of Holden, Debbie Gagne of Westminster, Linda and Brenda Gagne and Lisa Gagne and her fiancé Ron Chartrand all of Gardner; two brothers, Joseph and Louis Gagne of Spencer; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a favorite companion, his Beagle "Queenie". He is predeceased by three brothers, Joe, Henry and Robert Gagne and two sisters, Rita Roman and Jeanette Desroches. He was born in Spencer the son of Peter and Evelyn (Cote) Gagne and lived most of his life in Princeton.
David was the unofficial handyman at Wachusett House in Princeton. He worked for many years in construction and for his son at Gagne & Son Pump Co. in Westminster for several years. He was a special police officer in Princeton. A lifelong member of the Leominster Sportsmen's Club and the NRA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, gardener and loved being outdoors. He raised "AKC" Beagles, played the guitar & the bones and enjoyed country music. David loved helping out others with whatever projects they might have and was a very imaginative storyteller.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 19th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20th in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Princeton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sterling Healthcare Activities Fund or Brookhaven Hospice, 18 Dana Hill Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
