David George Bennett

August 16, 1938 — August 1, 2013

WORCESTER – David George Bennett, 74, passed away at home on Thursday, August 1, 2013, after an illness. He was born in Reading, PA, the son of George E. and Emily (Hafer) Bennett and had lived in Worcester since 1976.



He leaves his loving wife of 48 years, Mildred “Mickey” (Stewart) Bennett; two sons, David Bennett and his wife Gail of Bolingbrook, IL and Jonathan Bennett and his wife Nicole of Paxton; a daughter, Jennifer Baker and her husband Jeffrey of Glen Allen, VA; a sister, Judith Kidd of PA; five grandchildren, James, Mark, Grace, Edward and Joshua; and nephews and nieces.



David graduated from Reading High School and Albright College, both in Reading, PA and later served his country in the U.S. Army at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He worked at Mason Research in Worcester, George Luddy Chevrolet in Holden and Macy’s at the Solomon Pond Mall. David was an avid golfer and long-time Marshall at Pleasant Valley. He was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Network & Hospice, Development Office, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
