WORCESTER - David M. Beech, 85, of Holden, passed away January 5th with his family at his side following a brief illness.

He is survived by his partner in love and life Susan Barthelmes of Holden; his daughter Christine Harland and her husband Scott of Whitinsville; son Thomas and his wife Erin of Hubbardston; two adoring grandchildren, Robert Blood of Manchester, NH and Caroline Harland of Whitinsville; brother, Robert of Boston; his former wife Norma Aldrich of Whitinsville, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Cyril and Grace (Harding), brothers Thomas and James, sisters Grace, Shirley and Marcia.

Born in Worcester, Dave was a graduate of Commerce/Classical High Schools and Worcester Junior College. Dave also studied engineering at WPI.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

He settled in Holden to raise his family and remained there for the rest of his life. He worked for Verizon for 44 years never missing a single day of work. An avid sports fan, Dave’s Holy Cross tailgates were legendary. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved Sue at his side, spending time with his family, and tending his garden at home.

Dave made friends for life within five minutes of meeting anyone. An infectious laugh and a razor sharp wit made Dave a joy to talk to. We have lost a good one.

Calling hours are Friday, January 14th 12pm-2pm at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St (Rte. 122A) Holden, MA 01520. Interment will follow immediately at All Faiths Cemetery Worcester.
