WORCESTER - David G. Allen, 89, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 17, 2023. His beloved wife of 67 years, Joan (Grenier) Allen, recently passed away in February.
David was born and raised in Worcester, a son of the late Hugh and Doris (Gould) Allen. After graduating from Boys Trade High School, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country aboard the USS Wright. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Joan, and they settled in Worcester where they raised their family. David and Joan were faithful members of St. George Catholic Church.
David went on to further his education and received a bachelor's degree from Boston University and his master's degree from Anna Maria College. He enjoyed a long career, retiring at the age of 81. In his spare time, David enjoyed painting in watercolors, crafting furniture, and playing golf with his close friends. He was most adept at telling corny jokes and making others smile and laugh. He was the type of person that made lifelong friends wherever he went.
Most importantly, David was an amazing family man. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his two daughters, Marianne Allen Jeneski and her husband, Michael Brescia of East Wareham, and Suzanne Joslyn of Auburn; his son, William Crowe and his wife, Nina of Eureka, CA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his former son-in-law. Timothy Joslyn; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Joan, he was predeceased by his brother, John Allen.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
