RUTLAND – Helen M. (Davenport) Glavin Waterhouse, 100, formerly of Rutland, died Friday, April 4, 2008 in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston, after an illness surrounded by her loving family.
Her husband, Harold Waterhouse died in 1959. She leaves a son, Edward L. Glavin and his wife Constance of Rutland; a daughter, Carolyn L. Harris and her husband David of Shrewsbury; a sister, Mable Ayrton of Sarasota, Florida; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Charles Davenport and two sisters, Dorothy Parker and Annie Fairbanks, predeceased her. She was born in Milford, the daughter of Roger A. and Margaretta (Jackson) Davenport, and lived 21 years in Rutland. She was formerly the kitchen manager at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home in Worcester where she worked for over 10 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden and enjoyed gardening and traveling.
A memorial service for Mrs. Waterhouse will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 11th, in the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
