Wendy Danielle (Oberg) Nelson

HOLDEN/HULL- Wendy Danielle (Oberg) Nelson, 36, passed away peacefully early on Friday, November 6, 2009, at her home in Hull, surrounded by her family and friends after a four year battle with cancer.
She leaves her beloved daughter and the love of her life, Vanessa M. Nelson; her mother and step-father Susan Oberg Jacobvitz and Harvey Jacobvitz of Hull; her father and step-mother James Oberg and Linda Salmonsen Oberg of Holden; one sister, Darlynn and her husband Mark Oberg of Princeton; and three nephews, Kurtis, Charlie and Axel. She was born on February 20, 1973 in Worcester, the daughter of James and Susan (Hallaman) Oberg.
Wendy grew up in Holden and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1991. One of Wendy's greatest joys was performing as "Loop" the clown. This role allowed Wendy to entertain and touch the hearts of children and adults alike. She was a committed volunteer for Why Me, Inc. She worked at Shawmut Bank and Val's restaurant in Holden, and Archway in Leicester before moving to Hull in 2001. There she worked at Salt Water Diner and South Shore ARC. Wendy and her daughter Vanessa became active members of St. Nicholas United Methodist Church in Hull.
Wendy's greatest joy was her daughter Vanessa. Wendy was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and a loyal friend. Wendy was a gift to everyone that knew her. Her generous and loving personality left a smile on the face of all who met her. Wendy embraced life and all of its challenges and still took the time to stop and smell the flowers.
A memorial service for Wendy will be held at the First Baptist Church, 1216 Main Street, Holden on Friday, November 13th at 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will also be held on Sunday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. in Saint Nicholas United Methodist Church, 130 Spring Street, Hull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Why Me Inc., 1152 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602; or to the Vanessa Nelson College Trust Fund in Care of Sovereign Bank, 523 Nantasket Avenue, Hull, MA 02045.
