WORCESTER – Daniel Francis McAuliffe, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after an illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of Daniel F., Sr. and Agnes C. (Thompson) and was a lifelong resident of Worcester. He leaves his loving wife of 58 years, Jane M. (McKenna) McAuliffe; two sons, Daniel F. McAuliffe, III and his wife, Bo Lee of Holliston and Michael J. McAuliffe and his partner, Meredith Kruse of Worcester; his daughter, Jane M. McAuliffe of Worcester; three grandchildren, Andrew J. McAuliffe, Stephanie F. Matthews and her husband, Shane and Leslie A. McAuliffe; a daughter-in-law, Michaelene S. McAuliffe of Medway; a brother, David W. McAuliffe; a sister, Christine A. McAuliffe; and nieces and nephews. Daniel graduated from St. John’s High School and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education from Worcester State College. He was a teacher and vice principal in the Worcester School District for 35 years. Daniel was a member and former Boy Scout Leader at St. George’s Church. He was a life time member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association and National Teacher Association. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed home repair projects, gardening, boating and playing saxophone.
