WEST BOYLSTON – Daniel Bradford "Brad" Downer, 72, of West Boylston, died on Monday, May 11, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, after an illness.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey T. Downer and his wife Lucilia of West Boylston; a daughter, Tracy A. Folkersen and her husband Jon of Wakefield, NH; a brother, Gerry Downer of Sterling; two sisters, Pat St. Laurent of Monmouth, ME and Joan Coonan of Worcester; 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Brad was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. He was born in Worcester the son of Wallace W. and Veronica F. (MacKenzie) Downer and lived in Worcester before moving to West Boylston many years ago.
Brad worked for Norton Co. in Worcester for over 25 years and was also an accomplished stone and brick mason. For over 22 years he was a devoted member of AA. He was well known as a blood donor and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and photography. Most of all he was a great friend to everyone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A funeral for Brad will be held from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 15th in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts, 2000 Century Drive, Worcester, MA 01606.
