Holden - Cynthia "Cindy" S. (Burns) Hitch, 67, died after a brief illness on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late David and Katherine (Paulsen) Burns.
Cindy graduated from Pius XI High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's in teaching from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She had a passion for education and began her career teaching at Millard Public Schools in Nebraska. She married her beloved, David M. Hitch and relocated to Worcester. The couple later settled in Holden and Cindy began teaching for the Wachusett Schools until her retirement in 2019. Cindy found pleasure in the simple things in life. She was an avid gardener, which was evident in the beautiful landscapes that surrounded her home. Her greatest joy came from being a mother and spending time with her family.
Cindy will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband of 41 years, David M. Hitch; her sons, Daniel Hitch of Providence, RI, Matt Hitch of Allston and Andrew Hitch of Ruland; her daughter, Katherine Hitch of Abington; and her sisters, Anne Blakemore and her husband, Dwayne of CO and Lisa Broer and her husband, Konrad of NB. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wayne and Michael Burns.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Cindy's family at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 21st for a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson, MA.
