Constantina (Dicesare) Silvestris

February 20, 1925 — May 7, 2005

WORCESTER – Constantina (DiCesare) Silvestris, 80, of Wendover Road, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 in UMass Medical Center after an illness.

Her husband, Frank D. Silvestris died in 1975. She leaves three sons, Richard F. Silvestris and his wife Madeline of Dunstable, Mark A. Silvestris and his wife Teresa of Rutland, and Kevin M. Silvestris of Worcester. She is survived by four grandchildren, Julie M. Silvestris of Newton, Jeffrey R. Silvestris of Boston, Stephanie and Matthew Silvestris of Rutland; a brother, Paul DiCesare of Webster; and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Louis DiCesare of Holden died in 2003. She was born in Anversa L’Aquila, Italy, the daughter of Ernesto and Maria (Giananndrea) DiCesare, and lived 18 years in Holden before moving to Worcester in 1957.

Mrs. Silvestris graduated from Holden High School in 1945 and from The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She was a registered nurse and worked at Memorial Hospital in Worcester and several years as a private duty nurse. She later worked 30 years at Knollwood Nursing Home in Worcester, retiring in 2001. She was a member of St. George’s Church in Worcester and enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and cherished spending time with her family.

The funeral for Mrs. Silvestris will be held on Thursday, May 12, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street )Rte. 122A), Holden with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seven Hills Foundation, 81 Hope Avenue, Worcester, MA 01603.
