Conrad D. Washkevich

February 16, 1933 — February 9, 2015

SHREWSBURY – Conrad D. Washkevich, 81, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, February 9, 2015, after an illness. Conrad was born in Marlborough, the son of Stephen P. and Jennie V. (Shuman) Washkevich and had lived most of his life in Shrewsbury.



His wife of 60 years, Pauline M. (McNeil) Washkevich, passed away on August 31, 2013. He leaves two sons, Stephen C. Washkevich and his wife, Nancy of Holden and Michael S. Washkevich and his wife, Theresa of Mendon; a daughter, Debra L. Couture and her husband Kenneth of Whitinsville; a brother, Kenneth Washkevich of New Jersey; a sister, Irene Smith of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, John Washkevich and a sister, Lucy Pugsley.



Conrad enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served his country during the Korean Conflict. Following his service to his country, he was a number two press operator for over thirty-five years at Bay State Abrasives in Westborough before retiring.



He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Club and the Holden Senior Center. Conrad was a talented mechanic who enjoyed playing cards and going to yard sales and flea markets with his wife. He and Pauline were Florida snowbirds and loved to travel in their RV. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved to spend time with his family, his friends and his dogs.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Friday, February 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
