Conor J. Stelmach

RUTLAND - Conor J. Stelmach lost his life after a valiant struggle to overcome addiction on November 11, 2021. Conor was 22. Born in Concord, Conor was the child of Barbara (Boardman) Cardarelli and Matthew Stelmach and was raised in Sterling, eventually moving to Rutland.
An exceptional student, Conor graduated from Wachusett Regional High School and was currently enrolled at Clark University, majoring in Math and Philosophy. A kind and giving person, Conor was always willing to help others in need, especially those suffering from mental illness, drug addiction, and homelessness. Conor was a regular volunteer at AIDS Project Worcester, Inc.
Conor expressed himself through his guitar, writing and editing music, and playing in several garage bands. Passionate about all genres of music, Conor was equally at home at a Beach Boys concert or in the mosh pit at the Worcester Paladium. An abstract artist, Conor also created original works with acrylics. Conor was also an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying a good hike, camping, and snowboarding, depending on the season.
Conor will be lovingly missed and remembered by his mother, Barbara (Boardman) Cardarelli of West Boylston; his father, Matthew Stelmach of Rutland; his brother, Luke Stelmach; his maternal grandparents, Nancy (Grierson) and Brian Derby of Townsend; his paternal grandparents, Helen (Weisner) and Vincent Stelmach of Hyde Park, NY; his aunts and uncles, Timothy Derby and his partner Rachael Cormicle of Groton, VT; James Boardman and his partner Lisa Hjelm of Ashby; Karen and Terry Feeley of Poughkeepsie, NY; Christopher Stelmach of Marlboro, NY; Vincent and ChristiLee Stelmach of Red Hook, NY; and Susan and Peter Andersen of Cortlandt Manor, NY; as well as by his many cousins.
A remembrance service will be celebrated privately at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center in Sterling.
