JEFFERSON – Clifford P. Githmark, 76, beloved husband of Jan (McDougall) Githmark, passed away peacefully at UMass Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a short battle with brain cancer. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Clifford and Eleanor (Christie) Githmark, and was predeceased by his stepmother, Caroline.
After serving in Vietnam in the Army, he earned a master's degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Cliff went on to establish his own business, Insurance Planning Associates. Cliff was an active member of the Journey Community Church in Worcester for many years. He loved any family gathering, especially holidays, vacations, and entertaining by the pool. In his spare time, he could often be found playing golf, gardening, or fishing. He is known by all for his love for the Lord Jesus, life, family, and friends.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 53 years, Jan; his two sons, Erik Githmark and his wife, Sonja of Rutland, MA, and Andrew Githmark and his wife, Robin of Pembroke, NH; his four brothers, Paul Githmark and his wife, Trish of Cheshire, CT; Bob Schmidt and his wife, Bernie of Montvale, NJ; Bill Schmidt and his wife, Dina of Bolton Landing, NY; Chris Githmark and his wife, Amy of Wesley Chapel, NC; his three sisters, Karyn McGowin and her husband Bruce of Southampton, NY; Janet Pryzgoda and her husband, John of East Greenwich, RI; his five grandchildren; Lars, Leif, Kari, Gunnar, and Madison; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Clifford was predeceased by his sister, Susan Rich and brother-in-law Hal.
A memorial service will be held at the Journey Community Church, 27 Belmont Street, Worcester on Saturday, October 8 at 11:00AM.
