HOLDEN � Peter Clement Davis passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010, on a full blue moon, after a ten year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Carol A. (Watts) Davis; his daughter, Jessica Davis and her husband David Eckert of Dresher, PA; his son, Zachary Davis and Nancy Anderson of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by three step-children, Antoinette Mathieu and her husband Brian Obuchowski of Nashville, TN, Kari Pearlstein and her husband Dr. Marc Pearlstein of Swampscott and Sherri Cotter and her husband Robert Cotter of Boylston; four grandchildren, Jack and James Eckert, Emma Pearlstein and Robert Cotter, Jr.
He is also survived by his brother, William Davis and his wife Dr. Jessica Hoffmann Davis of Holderness, NH; his sister, Elizabeth and her husband Tucker Braddock of Norwich, CT; his brother, Mark Davis and his wife Deborah of Holden; his sister, Helen Davis of Fairfield, IA; his brother, Byron Davis and his wife Linda of Holden; and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Earl Davis, predeceased him.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Dr. William Watts and his family of Newburyport.
Peter was born in Worcester, son of Anne Merritt Davis and Byron Stevens Davis. He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, Maine Maritime Academy and Goddard College. He also attended Columbia University. He sailed as a merchant marine deck officer for ten years for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, National Bulk Carriers, Sea Land, Inc. and Farrell Lines, Inc. From 1968 to 1996, he worked ashore in various supervisory and management positions for American Export Lines, Farrell Lines, Inc. and ITO Corporation of Ameriport. He retired in 1996 as Vice President for Penn Terminals in Philadelphia.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
