STERLING - Claudia Von (Otto) Madden, 66, of Sterling passed away peacefully while on Hospice Care on December 21, 2020, following a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
She leaves her loving husband of 39 years, Joseph Madden. Prior to living in Sterling, Claudia lived in Framingham, where she attended public schools. She graduated from Framingham High and the Chandler School of Business in Boston. Claudia held several administrative jobs throughout her career and met her husband while working at Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard. She left Digital as a senior administrative secretary in 1985 to have her child. While home, she used her accomplished quilt maker skills producing many quilt products and accessories which she sold in several area shops. Later she interviewed and accepted an administrative and customer services position with the Sterling Municipal Light Department. She enjoyed working there for over 18 years and met many of the Sterling residents. She also made many acquaintances and friends in all the Sterling Municipal departments, and with town officials, before her retirement.
In addition to her husband, Claudia leaves her son, Christopher Madden of Sterling; her loving step-children, Richard Madden and his wife, Lisa of Woodstock, CT, Wendy Trudeau and her husband, Michael of Charlton, Patrick Madden of Sterling and his loving partner, Terry Gray of Shrewsbury; her deceased step-daughter, Bonnie Vallee’s husband, John of Northboro; nine grandchildren, Amber, Michael, Patrick, Jason, Karlie, Gina, Vincent, Dominick, and Antoinette.
She also leaves her mother, Anita Otto of Shrewsbury, a sister, Lindsay and husband Dr. Steven Tosi of Grafton and their children, Mathew, Andrew, and Krissy her husband, Sean and their son Ruairi; and four of her cousins along with many Madden nieces and nephews and her close friends in Greenville, ME where she enjoyed her Camp and clear waters of Wilson pond and the Maine woods watching moose, deer, and loon.
Claudia was a peach, the sweetest one on the tree.
Funeral services for Claudia are private and under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. For those who wish, they may make a contribution to the Town of Sterling Fire Department Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564, as they do a wonderful job serving our townspeople in need like Claudia.
