WORCESTER – Clarence Max “Sid” Sidlo died on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Worcester, Massachusetts, at the age of 90. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 26, 1928, the oldest son of Clarence Sidlo and Ruth McCallum. After graduation from Northwestern University, he spent most of his working life as a system engineer for GTE (now Verizon) Corporation, the last years with GTE Laboratories in Waltham, Massachusetts. He lived in Framingham, Massachusetts at the time. He retired in 1991 and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where for many years he was active in Civil War studies as editor of the newsletter of the North Carolina Civil War Round Table, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina. He and his wife returned to Massachusetts in January of 2011 to be closer to their families.
Mr. Sidlo is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Elaine Sidlo of Port Richey, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Mark Hellkamp of Bethell, Washington; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Robert Henley of Hopkinton, Massachusetts; son, Johnathan Sidlo of Auburn, Massachusetts; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Pat Sidlo of Concord, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Sidlo and family of Tampa, Florida and his step-sons, John Campbell and Jeffrey Campbell of Worcester and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, and his brother Joseph Sidlo of Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Relatives and friends are in invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 5 on Sunday, September 30, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 1, in the funeral home. Burial will be private. Please omit flowers.
