S M. Clare (Cragan) Thorell

PRINCETON – M. Clare (Cragan) Thorell, 90, of Westminster Road, died on Saturday, March 7, 2009 in Sterling Healthcare Center after an illness. She was born in Worcester on September 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Stephen E. and Mary A. (Danahy) Cragan and lived 57 years in Princeton.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 64 years, Warren O. Thorell; a daughter, Bonnie C. Schmohl and her husband Charles; two sons, Warren D. Thorell and his wife Anne, and Robert J. Thorell and his wife Marcia all of Princeton; eight grandchildren, Pat Schmohl and his wife Jen, Liz Hilton and her husband Jason, Megan Jensen and her husband Erik, Kate, Kelsa, and Casey Thorell, and Molly and Julia Thorell; five great grandchildren, Chip and Jayna Schmohl, Grace and Max Hilton, and Owen Jensen; and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Stephen E. Cragan and a sister, Marion T. MacKenzie, predeceased her.

Clare graduated from St. Peter's High School in Worcester and studied nursing in Brooklyn, New York. She was a registered nurse and worked many years for several area hospitals and nursing homes. She was a longtime member of the Prince of Peace Church in Princeton. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was extremely proud of her Irish heritage. Clare embraced and loved life. She adored her husband, loved her family and truly enjoyed her friends.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11th, in the Prince of Peace Church, 5 Worcester Road, Princeton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prince of Peace Church, P.O. Box 305, Princeton, MA 01541; or a charity of your choice. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is assisting the family with arrangements.
