WORCESTER - Clare C. Morhardt, 91, of Worcester, MA passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger F. Morhardt for 66 years. She was born in Hartford, CT to Michael A. Connor and Catherine (Conway) Connor. She was the loving sister of the late Jane Constantine and Michael A. Connor, Jr. She was the sister-in-law of Catherine Connor of Hartford, CT and the late Eli Constantine. Clare graduated from Buckley High School, attended Sarah Lawrence College, and graduated from New York University. Upon graduation, she worked as a buyer for Bergdoff Goodman of New York City.
A prior resident of Jamestown, RI and Bethel, CT, Clare devoted her life to Roger and her family. She loved and inspired the lives of seven children, twenty-one grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was the loving mother of Jeffrey C. Morhardt of Woodstock, VA, Constance C. Montross of Sturbridge, MA., Ann M. de Raismes of Gloucester, MA., Catherine R. Mohr of Anchorage, AK, Elizabeth M. Elkas of Holden, MA, and Michael G. Morhardt of Southboro, MA. She was the mother of the late Jane R. Wood and Roger F. Morhardt, Jr. She was the loving mother-in-law of Steve Wood, Jack de Raismes, Mitchell Mohr, Peter Elkas, Ginny Morhardt and the late David Montross.
Clare adored all of her grandchildren, Duncan Morhardt, Connor Morhardt, Roger Wood, Rachel Patterson, Sarah Montross, Rebecca Montross, Laura Montross, Westley Burns, John de Raismes, Aimee Quinn, Gregory Diamond, Matthew Diamond, Clare Diamond, Lauren Diamond, Christopher Diamond, Travis Mohr, Tim Mohr, Catherine Elkas, Jonathan Elkas, Michael Morhardt and Max Morhardt. Her great-grandchildren, Connor, Owen, Sophia, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Abby, Braden, Catie and Avery, brought extraordinary joy to her life.
Clare loved reading, painting, music, traveling, and bringing her family together to share wonderful laughter and meals. She also loved her cats and dogs, especially adopted golden retrievers. She enjoyed working at the Jamestown Library and The Booklet of Bethel, CT
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605 on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10:30 am. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, 26 Dodingtown Road, Bethel, CT on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 808, Hudson, MA 01749; or to Notre Dame du Lac (Painting Therapy or Prayer Partners Group, Attn: Pam Reidy), 555 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
