WORCESTER - Clara (Goodman) Weintraub, 94 passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Jewish Healthcare Center after a period of declining health.
She leaves a daughter Lee Ann Weintraub of Brookline, MA; a son David Weintraub and Jane of Hudson, MA; a granddaughter Amanda wife of Logan Sena of Salem, MA; a grandson Jordan Weintraub and his wife Sarah of Brighton; and great-grandchildren Harlow and Holden as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Manuel Weintraub, and her sisters Rose Berman and Ethel Green, and by her brothers Maurice and Julius Goodman.
Clara was born and raised in Spencer to Fannie and Solomon Goodman. She had a wonderful childhood growing up on the farm with her brothers and sisters. She attended David Prouty High excelling in school as well as sports, running on the track team and playing on the girls’ basketball team being named to the all-town team. She attended all class reunions having recently had a phone call with her best friend Jane Paulette of New York City. After graduation, she attended Salter Secretarial School and upon graduation worked in the office of Dr. Jerome Fielding in Worcester. It was shortly after that she met Manny the love of her life for 70 years.
She became the consummate housewife, taking care of the kids and becoming a wonderful cook. Her stuffed veal pocket on the Jewish new year and chocolate cake were family favorites. The holidays were special to her and even this past year insisted on having mini versions of Passover and Rosh Hashanah with the family.
She was a member of the Holden Hills Country Club and later Green Hill Country Club playing in the womens Central Ma. golf league as well with her close friends and family. She and Manny spent the winters in Boynton Beach with family and friends She was a very good bridge player playing with the bridge club (her close friends) as well as tournaments in the area.
She was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Israel and Worcester Womens Hadassah.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 20th in B’nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John’s Rd, Worcester under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
