HOLDEN – Clara “Claire” J. (Sack) Berglund, 85, of 22 Stoneleigh Road, died Sunday, February 25, 2007, in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a short illness.
Her husband of 25 years, Gunnar Robert Berglund, died in 1997. She leaves two brothers, Richard P. Sack of Waterville, Maine and Theodore Sack of Cypress, CA; a sister, Mary Ann Freer of Hemet, CA; nephews and nieces; and a special long-time friend, Peg Hebert. She was predeceased by her four brothers and two sisters. She was born in Shubernacadie, Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of Richard and Helen (Paul) Sack. She was raised in Waterville, graduated Waterville High School, then lived in the Boston area before moving to Holden 35 years ago.
Mrs. Berglund was a secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers at U.S. Air Force Base at Hansom Field for 14 years, retiring many years ago. She was a member of St. George’s Church, enjoyed skiing on New England slopes, golfing and was a member of local bowling leagues.
The funeral for Mrs. Berglund will be held on Saturday, March 3, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in All Faith’s Cemetery, 7 Island Road, Worcester. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 2, in the funeral home.
