HOLDEN – William C. Landquist, 88, of the Lutheran Home of Worcester, formerly of 461 Bullard Street, Holden, died on Thursday, November 15, 2007, after a brief illness where he was surrounded by his family.
He leaves his two sons, Craig W. Landquist of Holden and Gary P. Landquist of Rutland; two daughters, Trudy J. Smith of Holden and Wendy J. Fiffy of Leominster; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His wife of 58 years, Gladys (Berglund) Landquist, predeceased him in 2002. He was born in Worcester, son of Charles and Gertrude (Werme) Hayden, and had lived in Holden for 55 years. He was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester.
Mr. Landquist was a wheel molder in the Grinding Wheel Division at Norton Company for 34 years, retiring in 1983. He was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden, its Senior Koinonia Group and sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the Quinsigamond Nordic Lodge No. 611, Vasa Order of America Worcester Chapter, Scandinavian Athletic Club and its Swedish Folk Dance Club in Shrewsbury, and the Swedish Singers in Springfield. He was a member of the Guiding Light Lodge of Masons in Auburn.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 18th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Mr. Landquist will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 19th, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will follow in All Faith’s Cemetery, 7 Island Road, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA 01520.
