Claire R. (Pothier) White

RUTLAND - Claire R. (Pothier) White, 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a sudden illness. She was born and raised in Leominster, the daughter of Wilfrid and Juliette (LeBlanc) Pothier and had lived in Rutland since 1958.

Her beloved husband of 65 years, Donald L. White, passed away on October 12, 2022. She leaves her sons, Robert S. White and his wife, Kristen of Surprise, AZ and James W. White and his wife, Rosa of Rutland; her daughters, Barbara A. Parker and her husband, Jeffrey of Brookfield, Donna M. Mitchell and her husband, Kenneth of Spencer and Jeanine T. Nahkala and her husband, Donald of Warren; her nine grandchildren, Steven, Lisa, Brian, Lila, Sarah, Douglas, Jacob, Megan and Chelsea; her brother, Gerald Pothier of Leominster; her sisters, Pauline Guillemette, and Jeannette Marcoux both of Leominster; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond, Marcel, Paul and Roger Pothier, and her sister, Irene Iwanow.

Claire graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg and was the Assistant Librarian for 23 years for the Rutland Free Public Library before retiring. Claire was a member of St. Patrick's Church and enjoyed traveling, camping, lighthouses, and reading. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and mémère who always put her family first.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Claire's family on Monday, May 8th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will then follow at Rural Cemetery in Rutland.
