Antonio Ciociolo

June 8, 1927 — February 13, 2009

HOLDEN – Antonio "Tony" L. Ciociolo, 81, of West Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Holden, died peacefully with his son by his side on Friday, February 13, 2009 in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston.

His wife of over 50 years, Margaret L. (Caldbeck) Ciociolo died in 2003. He leaves his son, James Ciociolo and his wife Christina of Boylston; three grandchildren, James A., Michael and Melissa Ciociolo all of Boylston; three brothers, Rocco Ciociolo of Sterling, Mike Ciociolo of Santa Rosa, California and George Ciociolo of Holden; three sisters, Marie Vacca, Rose Sands, and Virginia Henderson all of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. He was born and raised in Worcester the son of Antonio and Antoinette (DiVerdi) Ciociolo and lived over 40 years in Holden.

Tony graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in China. He owned and operated Ciociolo Builders in West Boylston for over 40 years and built many fine homes in the Worcester area. He was a long time member of Worcester Country Club where he was a former club champion, board member and well known competitive golfer. Tony was proud of his 1983 MGA Senior Championship win and his six career aces. He was also a member of Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida where he continued to play golf with his friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral will be held on Friday, February 20th, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14th at Bear Lakes County Club in West Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Tony Ciociolo to the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, 300 Arnold Palmer Blvd, Norton, MA 02766; or to the Massachusetts Special Olympics, 450 Maple Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
