WORCESTER - Christopher J. Piekos, age 38, died unexpectedly on April 26, 2022, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester. Born in Worcester, Chris was the son of Stanley and Mary Lou (Geran) Piekos.
Chris, along with his two brothers, grew up in Holden, where he graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. Following that, Chris proudly served his country as a Reconnaissance Marine with the U.S. Marine Corps, where he had a distinguished career rising to the rank of Sergeant and earning a Bronze Star, among many other awards. Following his military service, he graduated from UMass Amherst, where he played for the UMass Minutemen soccer team with distinction. As an avid soccer player and lover of the sport, Chris was given the opportunity to coach at Fitchburg State University where everyone, team and coaches alike, rallied around his exemplary leadership on and off the field.
He had a gregarious personality and an infectious smile, which led him into a career in the hospitality industry. When not working, he could often be found on the links at Holden Hills perfecting his golf game.
Chris will be lovingly missed and remembered by his mother, Mary Lou (Geran) Piekos of Worcester; his brothers, Matthew Piekos and his wife, Mila of Shrewsbury and Brian Piekos and his fiancee, Amanda of Worcester; his nephews and nieces Jack, Beckett, Kennedy, Grace, and Alyssa, and the rest of his large, tight-knit family, countless dear friends, and his favorite dog, Edith. Chris' magnetic personality earned him a multitude of brothers, teammates, and close friends, who he considered part of his family and will carry on his memory always. Semper Fi.
He was predeceased by his father, Stanley Piekos.
