SPENCER – Christopher J. MacDonald, 58, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2017 under the loving care of his family and the caring staff at Life Care Center in Auburn, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Abington, Pennsylvania, Chris was the son of the late John and Regina M.R. (O’Hearn) MacDonald and spent the last 25 years between Spencer and East Sandwich. Chris graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor Degree in Communication and was the Liability Manager at independent Claim Services, Inc. in Westborough. He married the love of his life, Maureen O’Grady on August 10, 1991 at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury and lived in Shrewsbury before moving to Spencer. Chris enjoyed bike riding, playing golf, skiing, following his favorite sport teams including his beloved Boston Red Sox. One of his favorite past times was working in his yard. Chris had a particular green finger for growing hydrangeas and Shasta daisies. He will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be affectionately remembered and missed by his wife of 26 years, Maureen F. (O’Grady) MacDonald; his daughter, Kara M. MacDonald of Spencer; three brothers, Andrew J. MacDonald and his wife, Joan of Plano, IL, John L. MacDonald of San Antonio, TX, and Paul E. MacDonald and his wife, Mary of Oswego, IL; and many loving friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Chris’ family from 11 to 2 pm on Saturday, September 23, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
