Chester 'Buddy' R. Mason

STERLING - Chester “Buddy” R. Mason, 75, died on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at River Terrace Healthcare, Lancaster, after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Mason is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Cecile Jeannette (Frechette) Mason of Sterling; a son, Chester “Chuck” Mason of Sterling; four daughters, Pamela Ricardi and her husband Gregory of West Boylston, Lori Ann Amons and Bonnie Stevens and her husband Douglas of Plattsburgh, New York, and Amy Pineo and her husband Michael of Sterling; two sisters, Gloria Leger and her husband Donald of California, and Sandra Welvaert of Sterling; seven grandchildren, Karen Ricardi, Nicholas Ricardi and his wife Kristin, Theresa Rose, Joshua and Allison Pineo, Neil Stevens and Buffy Duncan; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Rose, Brianna Bombard, Taylor Stevens and Douglas Duncan; and a loving aunt, Della Buja of Leominster.

Mr. Mason was born in Clinton on March 7, 1936, the son of Ethel (Nichols) and Chester R. Mason. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1953, and began a career in computer technology and data analysis from which he never retired. He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling where he taught C.C.D. and was the founder of the first folk service. He was also a Past President of the Sterling Lions Club. His legacy of hard work and devotion to family will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.

Friends and family are invited to visit with the Mason family to honor his life from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Richard of Chichester Church, Memorial Tree of Life, P.O. Box 657, Sterling, MA 01564; or to the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center, 275 Nichols Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
