RUTLAND - Cheryl Elizabeth (Saarinen) Muir courageous fight with cancer over the last 9 months came to a peaceful end at home on Monday, August 3, 2015, with her loving family there by her bedside. She was 53. Cheryl was born and raised in Worcester, and has lived in Rutland for the past 10 years.
She graduated from Burncoat High School and attended Becker College. Cheryl worked as a paralegal for the last 30 years, most recently at the offices of Attorney Joseph Jenkins of Shrewsbury. She was a loyal and dedicated employee. An avid traveler, Cheryl loved visiting warm beaches of islands in the Caribbean and Hawaii. Cheryl also enjoyed the local beauty surrounding her, whether visiting Lake Horace in Weare, New Hampshire or the seacoast of Maine, New Hampshire and Cape Cod. She loved being able to sink her toes in the sand and listen to the peace roll of the waves. Cheryl’s great love was found in her family and friends. She was a devoted loving companion of her husband, Robert for over 24 years, a dedicated and loving mother to her two children, Mitchell and Paige and a cherished daughter, sibling and aunt. Cheryl also maintained long relationships with her many friends, some she has known since elementary school. Never one to shy away from offering an opinion, Cheryl’s honesty and truth was truly the thing that made her so special to so many. Cheryl touched everyone she met.
She will be truly missed by her husband, Robert; her two children, Mitchell and Paige; her parents, Ralph and Elinor (Butler) Saarinen of Shrewsbury; her brother, Todd Saarinen and his wife, Patricia of Brimfield; her sister, Kerri-Lyn Montgomery and her companion, Dany Ringgard of Barre; her sister-in-law, Susan Muir of New York; brothers-in-law, Harvey Muir of Worcester and John Montgomery of Weare, NH; her several nieces and nephews; as well as many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Cheryl’s family on Thursday, August 6, from 4-7 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
