STERLING/FITCHBURG – Charles J. Zarach, 31, died unexpectedly at his home in Fitchburg on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He was born on February 12, 1982, in Stow, the son of Steven and Colleen (Muscato) Zarach.
He lived in Stow until 1986 when his family moved to Sterling. Charlie attended Sterling schools from kindergarten thru middle school and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden in 2000. He joined the Air Force Reserve in January, 2008, completed boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and Radio Communication Tech School in Biloxi, Mississippi in 2008.
Moving to Joseph’s House Apartment Complex in Fitchburg in 2011, Charlie found a peaceful rhythm of life making many friends in the complex, notably Barbara, John and Chris. Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics games were staples at John’s apartment and weekly scrabble games kept these friends connected. Patriot’s games were reserved for weekends with Mom and Dad. Movies were his passion, amassing a large number of videos from the Criterion collection with Quentin Tarantino being his favorite director.
Charlie was a kind, considerate and thoughtful young man who cared about family, friends and helping others in need. Holidays were always special to Charlie and he expressed that it was all about family and friends….not things. He had simple goals which were to lead a happy and caring life, making as many friends as possible. He would go to any extreme to make everyone happy. Fishing was a favorite pastime where he possessed a remarkable ability to catch the most and largest fish with the least amount of effort, technique and equipment. These accomplishments never failed to leave experienced anglers scratching their heads.
He leaves his parents, Steven and Colleen (Muscato) Zarach; his siblings, Michael and Kelly Zarach of Leominster; his sister-in-law Jessi whom he loved dearly; his grandmother, Regina Zarach of Gardner; his loving Aunt Charlene and Uncle Brian Muscato and family, his Aunt Ruth Zarach; and half- sisters, Dawn Parker, Deb Lacourse and Kathleen Mercier; as well as cousins, nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit Charlie’s family from 5 to 7 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling, followed by a memorial service at 7 pm in the funeral home.
