JEFFERSON - Charles Adrien Rock, 81, beloved husband of JoAnne (Matis) Rock, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 21, 2023. Born in Woonsocket, RI and raised in Millbury, he was the son of the late Joseph Adrien and Cecile R. (Peloquin) Rock. After graduating from Holy Name Central Catholic High School, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his Country. Upon his return he met his future wife, JoAnne. They were married on May 1, 1963, and settled in Jefferson where they raised their four children. Charles was a faithful member of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed a long career with the Fort Devens Fire Department, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief after over twenty-seven years of dedicated service.
First, and foremost, to Charles was his love and devotion to his family. He loved summer vacations at the Cape. In his retirement years he could often be found sitting quietly in the sunshine or relaxing in his daughter's pool. He enjoyed the outdoors and taking drives. His love for music and dancing always had him on the dance floor at weddings. Those who knew him best will always remember his words of wisdom to "Keep the Faith".
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 60 years, JoAnne; his son, Charles Rock, Jr. and his wife, Judi of Holden; his three daughters, Keri Miknaitis and her husband, Michael of Holden, Amy Griffin of Jefferson and Wendy Horstman and her husband Joseph of Jefferson; his two sisters, Estelle Sherman and Rita Cammuso; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roger Rock and his sister, Diane Dion.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Devens Firefighters Local S-19, P.O. Box 2151, Devens 01434. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
