Biography
WORCESTER - Charles "Chuck" Aronson, 86, of Boca Raton, Florida, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, after an illness. He was born in Worcester and was the son of Joseph and Ruby (Kaufman) Aronson.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Slade) Aronson; a son, Robert J. Aronson of Sarasota, FL; a daughter, Joni Aronson of Boca Raton; a daughter-in-law, Linda Aronson of Northborough; and three grandchildren, Michael Aronson, Jaclyn Aronson and Spenser Aronson. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Rose.
Chuck graduated from Worcester Academy and from Bowling Green of Ohio. He was a longtime member of Temple Emanuel and Mount Pleasant Country Club. He enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, golf, boating and enjoyed many years on Cape Cod.
Chuck was president of Aronson Tire Company, a local tire distributor, founded by his father in 1919, which he owned and operated until he retired. Besides being a full commercial service and retail operation of many major tire brands, he was one of the first tire retreaders in New England. He established and manufactured Bandag Products as well as starting a private label wholesale business when he moved the business out of Worcester and expanded to Auburn in 1968.
GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M. ON MONDAY, AUGUST 4, IN B'NAI BRITH CEMETERY ON ST. JOHN'S RD. IN WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN.
Immediately following the interment service, a reception will be held at the Beechwood Inn where the Memorial Observance will be held through Monday evening.
