WORCESTER – Charles “Pop” A. Craig, Sr., 84, of 183 Lovell Street, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, in the Autumn Village, Worcester, after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Beatrice E. (Auger) Craig; two sons, Charles A. Craig, Jr. and his wife Maryann of Nashua, and Daniel T. Craig and his wife Gail J. of Auburn; a daughter, Kathleen I. Zack and her husband Paul F. of Oakham; a brother, William W. Craig of Heightstown, NJ; a sister, Virginia (Craig) Auger of Paxton; five grandchildren, Cheryl A. Craig, Brian D. Craig both of Worcester, Angela J. Donovan of Austin, MN, Katie and Christina Zack of Oakham; and a great-grandson, Sean S. Donovan of Austin, MN. He was born in Concord, son of Charles C. and Inez H. (Sentner) Craig, and lived all of his life in Worcester. He was an Army veteran of World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Craig was a foreman for Craig Mason Contractors in Worcester for many years. He was a 50-year member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons in Rutland, and 50-year member of the Royal Arch–Doric Chapter in Southbridge, and a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Worcester.
The funeral service for Mr. Craig will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, in the funeral home.
