Cecilia 'Teala' A. (Donohue) Bowe

January 6, 1928 — June 1, 2017

WORCESTER – Cecilia A. “Teala” (Donohue) Bowe, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at CareOne at Millbury under the loving care of her family. Born and raised in Worcester, Teala was the daughter of Florence A. and Cecilia (Cooney) Donohue. Teala was a graduate of St. Peters High School, Class of 1946. From a young age, Teala enjoyed learning and aspired to become an elementary school teacher. She received her bachelor’sdegree from Mount St. Mary’s College in New Hampshire and her master’s degree from Worcester State College. She taught in the Oxford Public Schools for several years. In 1953, Teala was reacquainted with a handsome young man named Robert Bowe, who she met in kindergarten as “Bobby Bowe”. After a two year courtship, they married on February 19, 1955 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Worcester. As newlyweds, Teala and Bob began their life-long journey in the Chicago area, where they spent several years starting their family and pursuing Bob’s career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Later, they moved to New York and then finally returned to their hometown of Worcester in 1971. Teala’s life was centered on her faith and family. As an active member at Christ the King Church in Worcester, she taught CCD and volunteered regularly. Teala and Bob willingly sacrificed so their children could receive a quality education. In her limited spare time, Teala looked forward to getting together with her friends, especially the “Quilting Group.” Each took turns hosting the group and spent most of their time discussing children and grandchildren. First and foremost, Teala cherished time with her family whether it was the holidays, Marshfield, or any occasion that would bring them all together. She will be remembered for her hospitality, her gentle nature, and her commitment to family, friends and even strangers in need. Her husband of 43 years, Robert E. Bowe died in 1998. She will be affectionately missed and remembered by her six children and their spouses: Mary C. Rose and her husband, David Jr. of Paxton, Anne Marie Moylan and her husband, Paul of Worcester, Catherine B. Caputo and her husband, Stephen of Shrewsbury, Margaret F. Fitzgerald and her husband, Robert of Holden, and twin sons, John A. Bowe and his wife, Maureen of Paxton and Robert E. Bowe, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Bloomfield, NJ; 13 grandchildren, David, Christopher, and Elizabeth Rose, Kevin, and Tara Moylan, Stephen, Cara, and Gina Caputo, Colleen, and Cecelia Fitzgerald, Leighann, Jessica, and Sarah Bowe and a great grandchild Nathan Collins; and several nieces and nephews. Teala is predeceased by a sister, Mary A. Tisdell and a brother, David A. Donohue. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Teala’s family from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, June 4, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, June 5, at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester with celebrants, Msgr. Michael F. Rose and Msgr. Thomas J. Sullivan. Teala will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
