RUTLAND - Cecile V. (Cote) Tod, 95, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Life Care in Auburn after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Wilfrid E. and Marie L.C. (Lavoie) Cote and had lived most of her life in Rutland.
Her beloved husband of 52 years, William Tod, passed away in 2001. She leaves her son, Thomas E. Tod and his wife, Tammy of Rutland; her daughters, Anne V. Lamarche and her husband Daniel of West Boylston, Elizabeth M. Tierney and her husband, Michael of Onset, and Patricia J. Tod and her husband, Lawrence Soloff of Somerset; her sister, Patricia Loughlin of Sutton; her brother, William Cote of Tillson, NY; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, James and John Cote and sisters, Marjorie Turrini and Helen Werme.
Cecile graduated from Shrewsbury High School and attended the Worcester Art Museum before working at Vellumoid Inc. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and was the Religious Education Director for many years. She was past president of the Worcester PTA and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Cecile was always active in her community volunteering for several organizations including Meals on Wheels, was a lunchroom monitor and was a volunteer reader at Naquag Elementary School in Rutland.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Cecile’s family on Monday, August 29th from 12 to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral home service at 1 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery in Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland Fire Brigade Rescue Fund, 240 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
