STERLING – Christine C. (Coleman) Everett, 66, of Justice Hill Road, died peacefully Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Saint Vincent Hospital, after a determined fight with breast cancer.
She leaves her beloved husband of 16 years, Wayne H. Everett; a son, Jeffrey Lombard and his wife Karen of Dartmouth; a daughter, Diana Cates of Wilson, NC; two step-sons, Philip Everett of Newry, Maine and Jeffrey Everett and his wife Kelly of Derwood, Maryland; a sister, Jo-an Carroll and her husband Charles of Newburyport; an uncle, Donald Maher of Newfane, VT; and six grandchildren, Madison, Megan, Sophie, Olivia, Max and Alex. She was born in Newfane, Vermont, a daughter of Rexford and Elizabeth (Maher) Coleman, and lived in Holden and Rutland for many years before moving to Sterling 13 years ago.
Christine was a graduate of Northfield School, now Northfield-Mount Hermon School in Northfield, MA; received a B.A. in Music from the University of Vermont at Burlington and an M.A. in Music from the University of Connecticut. She taught music at Holden Elementary Schools for the Wachusett Regional School District for 30 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holden where she was founder and director of the Carillon Bell Choir, longtime choir member and former director, and member of the Lydian League. She was also a longtime member of the Master Singers of Worcester and enjoyed many summers singing in the chorus of the Berkshire Choral Festival.
The family thanks Dr. Michael Rooney and the nurses at the Memorial Hospital-Levine Cancer Center and the Saint Vincent Hospital/Fallon Oncology Clinic for the compassion and tender care she received.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 29th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A memorial service for Christine will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 1st, in the First Baptist Church of Holden. Burial will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfane, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Holden, Carillon Bell Choir, 1216 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
