STERLING – With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Cathy Locke, 68, on Friday, November 10, 2023. Cathy was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and raised in Sterling where she resided for the majority of her life. She was the sole daughter of Francis and Doris (Kelley) Malo.
Cathy was an alumnus of Wachusett Regional High School and also a member of the Pom Pom Cheerleaders. She held various employments and retired as the Office Manager of Waushacum Village Homeowners Association. Her most purposeful roles were being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Cathy was an animal lover raising Collies and Cocker Spaniels throughout her life. Often, she could be found sitting outdoors in her screen porch watching wildlife and birds or sitting by the pool. She enjoyed gardening and harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables to preserve. Many jars were enthusiastically shared with family and friends. Her passion to be surrounded by friends and family at social events always ignited great conversations. She also loved spending weekends and vacations at Old Orchard Beach in Maine with her husband and daughter. They shared many favorite pastimes including shopping, walking the beach, or sitting by the campfire.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 48 years, Charles Locke Jr., her son Jeffrey Locke and his wife Katherine of Princeton, her daughter Wendy Locke of Sterling, her brother Kenneth Malo and his wife Deborah of Holden, her grandchildren, Sasha, Colin, Evan, and Noah, her aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
