Lakeville/Holden/Richmond, VT – Carolyn A. (Powers) Peura, 50, formerly of Holden and Richmond, VT, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 17, 2018 . She was born in Worcester the daughter of John P. and the late Jeanne A. (Gargolinski) Powers and lived in Holden and Richmond, VT before moving to Lakeville this summer.
Carolyn was predeceased by her mother, Jeanne A. (Gargolinski) Powers in 2009. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 26 years, Glenn D. Peura; her son, Nathan J. Peura; her daughter, Jessica N. Peura; her father, John P. Powers of Worcester; her brother, John T. Powers and his wife, Diana of Rutland; her sister, Deborah A. Trottier and her husband, Scott of Hubbardston; her nieces Alyssa Powers, Erin and Kara Trottier; and her nephews, Matthew Powers and Ryan Trottier.
Carolyn graduated from Notre Dame Academy with the class of 1986. Her nurturing spirit and passion for helping people in need motivated her to earn a Nursing Degree at UMass Amherst. She met the love of her life, Glenn Peura in 1986 and the couple lived in Richmond, VT for over 20 years. During this time Carolyn enjoyed a fruitful career as a Registered Nurse at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. Her dedication to her family was evident in many ways, but especially in her donation of her kidney to her sister and serving as a surrogate mother. Carolyn loved the beach and the trips she took with her family to Hawaii. Her gentle, caring spirit touched many people and she will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Carolyn’s family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A memorial service honoring and celebrating her life will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21st at the funeral home.
