HOLDEN – Carolyn Elizabeth (Hall) Buck, 77, of Reservoir Street, formerly of Sarasota Florida, died peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2009 in her home surrounded by her family, after an illness.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ormsby John Buck; a daughter, Carol (Buck) Uptegrove and her husband Leif of Holden; 3 sons, Bryan B. Buck and his wife Rebecca of California, Stephen W. Buck of Pennsylvania and Robert J. Buck and his wife Theresa of Upton; eight grandchildren; and her brother, Philip L. Hall of Nashua, New Hampshire. Carolyn was born in Nashua the daughter of J. Lawrence and Elizabeth C. (Alexander) Hall and had lived in Hopkinton for many years.
Carolyn graduated from Nashua High School, University of New Hampshire and from Westborough State Hospital where she received her nursing degree. She was a licensed practical nurse at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. Carolyn had an avid interest in needlework and quilting; she enjoyed the piano, and spending time with her family. She was attending Holden Chapel. A miraculous rainbow confirmed her deep faith at her passing, the promise fulfilled from Genesis 9:13 – "I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth."
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a chapel service for Carolyn at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9th in the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UMass Memorial Hospice, Music Therapy Program, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
