HOLDEN – Carol (Moore) Cherry Twichell, 72, of 22 Woodland Road, died Monday, February 28, 2005, in the Hospice Residence in Worcester after an illness.
She leaves her husband, Alan “Skip” R. Twichell; a daughter, Karen Fischer of Toronto, Canada; four step-daughters, Lynn Drawbridge of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Kym Deckard of Newark, Ohio, Abby Smith and Dale Hickey both of Holden; a sister, Beverly Holmes of Cedar Hill, Texas; and two grandchildren. Her first Husband, Dr. J. G. Cherry, died several years ago. She was born in Ashland, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles L. and Allyne (Hammonds) Moore, and lived Louisville, Kentucky and 37 years in Memphis before moving here in 2001.
Carol graduated from Ashland Senior High School, the University of Louisville, Ohio State College and attended Asbury College. She taught dental hygiene at the University of Louisville and the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis. She was also a dental hygienist in private practice in Memphis for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden, where she served on the Hospitality Committee and volunteered in the church’s Thrift Shop. She was a member of the Red Hats Society of Holden, the Worcester Model “A” Club and loved her husband’s Model “A” Ford.
Carol was a past president of the Louisville Dental Hygienist Association, the Kentucky Dental Hygienist Association and the Alliance to the Tennessee Dental Association. She was also active in the Memphis Area Ohio State Buckeye Association, the Memphis Symphony League and the Ruth Carolyn Mackay Cancer Foundation.
Calling hours for Carol will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 4, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 7, in the First Congregational Church, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O.
