Carol E. (Majewski) Rogers

February 27, 1940 — November 24, 2015

WORCESTER/HOLDEN - Carol E. (Majewski) Rogers, 75, a former and longtime Holden resident, died peacefully at her Worcester home Tuesday, November 24, 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Worcester, Carol was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kasprzak) Majewski.

Carol was the wife of Francis P. Rogers Jr.  She leaves a son, Patrick Rogers and his wife, Lisa of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two daughters, Andrea Rogers of Holden and Beth Stone and her husband, Matthew of Scituate; six beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Shelby and Callie Rogers and Cameron, Bridget and Ryan Stone. She is survived by two brothers, Robert Majewski and his wife, Dianne of York, Maine and Paul Majewski and his wife, Heather of Shrewsbury. She also leaves two sisters, Nancy Rogers and her husband, Anthony of Stoneham and Mary Dunn and her husband, Barney of Leominster; and many nieces and nephews.    Carol married her high school sweetheart, Frank, and the pair enjoyed 53 years of marriage, living most of their years in Holden before moving to Worcester and wintering in Naples, Florida 10 years ago.

She attended Wachusett Regional High School and graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She went on to become an adaptive physical education teacher, working nearly 30 years in the Millbury Public School System before her retirement.

Carol was a standout field hockey and basketball player in high school. She was a member of the inaugural class inducted into the WRHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 1985. In retirement, Carol always enjoyed any day on the golf course and for the past several years she served as president of the women’s league at Hillcrest Country Club.  She was a faithful Red Sox and Patriots fan. A loving, devoted mom, Carol always had time and advice for her three children. Known as “Mimi” to her six cherished grandchildren, Carol was the glue that held family together. She always ended a conversation or note with “Love you to the moon.”

Carol loved lounging with a good book, sitting by the pier at Naples Beach with the love of her life, Frank. She often shared stories of fond memories of summers with family at York Beach, Maine, visiting military bases with her sister, Nancy and brother-in-law, Tony, and long walks and talks with her sister, Mary.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Carol’s family from 3-6 pm on Sunday, November 29, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
