HOLDEN/WORCESTER – Carol J. (Gillespie) Dymek, beloved wife, devoted teacher and friend to many, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Sunday, June 13, 2021. Born in Lock Haven, PA, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Lois E. (Young) Gillespie. She was 87.
Carol graduated from Lock Haven University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and taught first grade for many years at Dawson Elementary School in Holden before finishing her career at Jefferson Elementary. She was not just a teacher, she was a caregiver, role model and extremely influential in the lives of the many students she taught. Former students were known to stay in touch with her throughout their lives.

She sang in the choir at the First Congregational Church of Holden, and was even invited to Vienna, Austria with her husband to sing during Advent. She was an avid reader and volunteer at the First Congregational Church of Holden Corner Shop and the Mustard Seed. Carol was selfless in nature, and would go out of her way to care for a friend or anyone in need.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 58 years, Richard “Dick” B. Dymek of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Jane Gillespie of AL; a cousin, Ralph Flanagan and his wife, Carol of MD; close friends, Bob Evans and his wife, Kathy of Holden; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by two brothers, Philip Gillespie and Thomas Gillespie; and two sisters, Patricia Linn and Sandra Furl.
