WORCESTER - Carol D. (Jepsen) Dolan, 72, of Grove Street in Worcester, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, James C. Dolan; by her four children, Douglas Buckser of Melbourne, Australia, Jeffrey Buckser of Seattle, Washington, Andrew Buckser of West Lafayette, Indiana, and Alison Buckser of Providence, Rhode Island; by her sister, Lois Steinfort of Maryland, her brother, Allen Jepsen of Holden; by her seven grandchildren, Rachel, William, Sarah, Edward, James, Kathryn, and Oliver; by her daughters-in-law, Lycyna and Susan Buckser; and by many friends.
Carol was born in Worcester, the daughter of Ernest and Dorothy (Allen) Jepsen. She graduated from North High School, received a B.A. Degree at University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1958, and later her Masters Degree in Education from Memphis State University. Carol passionately believed in the promise of education, teaching children how to read in Chicago, Illinois, and Memphis, Tennessee. Even after she left the profession, as a volunteer she taught adults how to read and write.
Carol moved back to New England in 1980, eventually moving into the family home where she was born. She worked for many years as a management consultant at Research and Planning, Inc., in Cambridge, and later developed a business as a researcher and writer in information technology. Her love of travel and family took her to Denmark, Poland, Australia and throughout the United States.
An amateur historian, Carol was active promoter and former President of the Westborough Historical Society. Developing speaker programs and organizing the Annual Historical Society's Antique Show became a signature of Carol's effort that many will remember. Carol's skills in organizing helped similar Auction Committees at the First Unitarian Church, where she was a member. Carol was also an imaginative artist, skilled knitter, consummate gardener, accomplished cook, and brilliant storyteller.
A memorial service for Carol will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12th, in the First Unitarian Church, 90 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heifer Project International, 216 Wachusett Street, Rutland, MA. 01543, or
