Life Legacy
HOLDEN - Carol Anne (Dealy) Singh of Holden, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family. Carol battled ovarian cancer for nine years with dignity, strength and grace. She is an inspiration to all who have fought cancer or who will fight cancer. Carol was the essence of charisma, radiance, optimism, sensational, inspiration, gorgeous, happiness and lovability.She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 49 years Jang B. Singh, M.D.; her Mother, Anne A. Dealy of Shrewsbury, her sister, Sharon K. Avis and her husband Richard M. of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Brian F. Dealy of Westford and Kevin J. Dealy and his wife, Leslie of North Attleboro; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews in the United States, Canada and India; and many dear lifelong friends. Carol was predeceased by her father, Frank M. Dealy who died in 1983 and a sister-in-law, Cynthia (Sandy) Dealy, the wife of Brian Dealy, who died in 2012.Carol was born in Nashua, New Hampshire. She graduated from North High School, Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Worcester State College in Nursing and her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Clark University (summa cum laude), all in Worcester. Carol’s career path in the health care industry focused on care for the elderly spanned decades as Director of Nurses at Jewish Community Health Care Center, Administrator of Webster Manor, and most recently she was the Administrator at Heywood Hospital Transition Care Center Unit in Gardner. The Transitional Care Center Unit was awarded one of the best 10 in the United States for many years in a row under her guidance. After her retirement the Transitional Care Center Unit was named in her honor for her outstanding contributions and dedication to helping patients transition back to productive lives. Throughout her career she mentored many young women towards and those involved with nursing education.She was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin and friend. Carol lived and loved life to the fullest every day. Her positivity was contagious and she always had a smile and kind word for all who met her. She was an all-inclusive individual who made sure everyone felt special and welcome in her presence. She loved a party! Her beautiful spirit inside and out was apparent to all who came in contact with her.Carol also loved any sport and adventure. She loved to Scuba Drive in the waters of the Caribbean; she was an avid golfer and tennis player and loved to ride in hot air balloons. Carol embraced all with contagious energy and attended so many important functions and events with friends and family.She was a member of the Haven Country Club, Worcester Club, Worcester Art Museum Salisbury Society and Hanover Theatre Franklin Square Society. She served on many boards, committees and book clubs. She served on the scholarship committee of the Worcester District Medical Society, and the Association of Sikh professionals. Carol and Jang travelled the world on many fabulous vacations and enjoyed spending time in Cambridge and on Cape Cod.The family would like to thank everyone who has supported and helped Carol and her family during her nine year battle, Especially Dr. Ursula Matulonis, Kathy Earley NP and all of the Dana Farber staff for their devotion and always making Carol feel loved and in good hands whenever she was there.A funeral service honoring Carol’s life was held privately in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
