PAXTON - Carol M. (Bates) Auger, 72, passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2014, at UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester.
Carol was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Kenneth L. and Mary T. (Bicknell) Bates. She was raised in the Worcester area.
Carol worked as a lab technician for Astra Pharmaceutical in Westborough for 39 years prior to her retirement. An accomplished crafts enthusiast in the field of needlework, Carol created many beautifully knitted items, including sweaters that were greatly treasured. She also worked in needlepoint and mentored many students in many different needle work genres. Carol also was a wonderful cook and baker, and her famous blueberry pie will never be duplicated. She loved to travel and enjoyed vacations all over the country.
She leaves her two beloved children, Kevin D. Auger and his late wife, Jina Kim Auger of Honolulu, HI and Michelle Auger-Newlin and her husband, Steven of Evanston, IL; her longtime companion, Daniel Dunn of Paxton; her four cherished grandchildren, James B., Will T. and Max H. Newlin and Matthew A. Auger; her sister, Linda C. Roy of Worcester.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Carol’s family on Wednesday, December 10, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Interment will be private. Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers may be sent to Autism NOW, c/o The Arc-Massachusetts Chapter, 217 South Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
