PRINCETON – Carmen M. (Burpee) LaPorte, 83, of Princeton died at home on Friday, November 4, 2011. Her husband of 55 years, John W. LaPorte, Sr., died in 2003.
She leaves her children, Raymond A. LaPorte and his wife Christine Lockyer and Nancy J. Ahola, all of Princeton; two sisters, Frances Ebair of Worcester and Eunice Marrell of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Jessica Ebert, Suzanne Anderson and Michael LaPorte; and three great-grandchildren, Allyssa Ebert, Lillian Anderson and Anna Sophia LaPorte. A son, John W. LaPorte, Jr., a daughter, Joanne LaPorte, a brother, Frank “Sonny” Burpee and a sister, Jeannette Patenaude, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Leominster, daughter of Frank and Marion (Muchunsky) Burpee, and moved to Princeton in 1948.
Carmen graduated from Fitchburg State College and was an Activities Assistant for Keystone Nursing Home in Leominster. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden, and was an active member of both the Hubbardston and Leominster Senior Centers.
Calling hours are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 7, at the First Baptist Church of Holden, 1216 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Holden. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
