JEFFERSON – Carl A. Mellor, Sr., age 68, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2025. Born in Worcester, Carl was the son of Ellsworth and Norma (Carlson) Mellor and was a lifelong resident of Central Massachusetts.
Carl graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1974 and pursued a long career as a machinist. He was the owner of EP Mellor Co in Jefferson for many years, had a 20-year career at BA Sundin and Son, and worked as an Independent Contractor.
Carl was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, of which he was very proud. He was a past member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons, a former President and past member of the Nimrod League of Holden.
As an avid outdoorsman, when he wasn’t working, Carl could often be found in his extensive gardens, fishing, spending time with his children and grandchildren, volunteering with the Patriot Guard Riders, watching baseball or football, and tending to his beloved pets.
Carl will be lovingly missed and remembered by his beloved wife, Barbara (Nystrom) Mellor of Jefferson; his son, Carl Mellor, Jr. and wife, Amanda, their children Hannah, Logan and Olivia of Hardwick; his daughters, Samantha Williams and husband, Tom, their children Carden, Landon, Avery, and Nolan of Athol, and Stephanie Mellor and fiancé Drew Dudley, their children Sophia and Everett of Gardner; his step-son, Mark Nystrom of Jefferson; his siblings, brothers; John Mellor of Walker AZ, Robert Mellor of Fort Myers FL, Ellsworth Mellor Jr and partner Catherine Teves of Lakeville MA, James Mellor and wife Beth (Maynard) of Princeton, Mark Mellor and fiancé Paula McCorkle of Marlboro NH, Michael Mellor of Worcester, and sisters; Diana Provencher and husband James of Holden, Sheryl Vernon and husband Jonathan, and Charlene Ross and husband Darren, all of Rutland, Sarah Mellor of Spencer and Rebecca Mellor of Northbridge, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Martha Davis and Lee Mellor.
Family and friends will gather for Calling Hours from 4 to 7pm on Friday, February 28th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 1st at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Interment will be private.
