HOLDEN - Carl F. Johnson, 79, formerly of Bullard Street in Holden, died Friday, January 14, 2005, in Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

His wife of 46 years, Virginia Alice (Krikorian) Johnson, died in 1996. He leaves two sons, Mark C. Johnson of Holden and David P. Johnson of Manhattan, New York; three grandchildren, Nicole E., Bryan C. and Melissa R. Johnson of of Boylston. A brother, Robert Johnson, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Carl F. and Thyra (Anderson) Johnson, and lived in Holden for many years before living six years in Oxford and most recently Auburn. He graduated Worcester Boys Trade and Worcester Junior College. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic Pacific theater.

Mr. Johnson was Manager of Communications for Norton Company, Worcester, where in worked for 49 years. He was a lifelong member of the Epworth United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and served on various committees.

The funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, in the Epworth United Methodist Church, 64 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, 64 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
