PAXTON/RUTLAND – George “Bud” C. Hunt, Jr., 82, died Thursday, January 18, 2007 in the West Side House, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his son, Gary C. Hunt and his wife Roberta of Hancock, Maine; three grandchildren, Christen L. Hunt of Astoria, New York, and Ethan B. and Zachary B. Hunt of Hancock, Maine; and close friends, Wayne Jordan of Rutland and Rusty Savignac of Oakham. A sister, Shirley Hunt, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of George C. and Marion (Shays) Hunt, Sr., was raised in Paxton and later lived in Rutland. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade in 1942 and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Bud was owner and operator of the Paxton Garage for 25 years, retiring in 1974. He was Paxton Selectman for several years, a member of the Sons of Paxton, American Legion Post 306 in Paxton and the Paxton Fire Department. He was also a member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons in Rutland. He enjoyed restoring Antique cars, trucks and tractors and was a member of the Wachusett Antique Car Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. Memorial donations may be made to Bud’s memory to the American Legion Post 306, 885 Pleasant Street, Paxton, MA 01612; or the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons, P.O. Box 151, Rutland, MA 01543.
