PAXTON – Bruce K. Wylie, age 94, died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 13, 2024, surrounded by the loving presence of his family. Born in Paxton, Bruce was the son of William and Christina (Boag) Wylie, and was a lifelong resident of Central Massachusetts.
Bruce and Joyce were married in 1952, settling in Leicester. Eventually, they moved to Paxton, where they remained for several decades. Bruce was proud of his military service as a Sargent in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for many years as a machinist, but was most proud of his career as a Machine Shop teacher at Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School. Bruce was also a dedicated member of Rufus Putnam Lodge of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Rutland, as well as the Melha Shriners of Agawam.
Bruce will be lovingly missed and remembered by his son, Douglas B. Wylie and his wife, Cheryl of Royalston; his granddaughters, Jessica McCaffrey and her husband, Philip of Paxton, and Heather Wylie of Rutland; his great-granddaughter, Molly Joy; his step-grandsons, Brad Myntti and his wife, Nikki of Hardwick, Kirk Myntti; and his step-great-grandson, John Brad Myntti, Jr.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his beloved wife of 71 years, Joyce (Eames) Wylie in 2022.
Family and friends are invited to gather with Bruce’s family from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mooreland Cemetery, 261 Richards Avenue, Paxton, where Bruce and Joyce will be laid to rest together.
