BUZZARDS BAY/HOLDEN – Bruce “Bear” W. Bardsley, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Buzzards Bay with his loving wife and family by his side on November 23, 2017 after a brief illness. Born and raised in Waltham, Bruce was the son of the late Leonard and Hazel (Jenkins) Bardsley and lived 35 years in Holden before moving to Buzzards Bay in February.Bruce was a graduate of the Waltham High School class of 1968. He spent the following 49 years working in the construction industry which included 20 years for P. Gioioso & Sons in Hyde Park. In his spare time, Bruce enjoyed golfing with his friends at Bedrock Golf Course in Rutland and following his beloved New England Patriots. He had an affinity for the charm of the Cape and serenity of its coastline. He was looking forward to spending his retirement years on the Cape with his wife, Marianne, “Mae,” in their new home in Buzzards Bay. Mae is so appreciative that Bear was able to spend and enjoy last summer with her before becoming ill. He will be remembered as Bear to all who loved him.Bruce will be affectionately remembered and missed by his loving wife and best friend of 30 years, Marianne “Mae” (Iandoli) Bardsley; his two children, Derik Bardsley his wife, Ellis and their three children Andrea, DJ and Amy of Boscowen and Lisa Bardsley of Warren both in New Hampshire; a sister, June Bardsley of Sudbury; his father in law, John P. Iandoli of Shrewsbury; many nephews and nieces including, Kimberly and David Steede of Framingham; and his beloved dog, “Winnie.” Besides his parents he is predeceased by his son, Douglas Bardsley, his brother, Leonard Bardsley, and his mother-in-law, Janet (Todd) Iandoli.Marianne would like to thank Dr. Amy Pratt and Dr. Bradley Switzer and staff of UMass Oncology, as well as Dr. Frederic Baker and his staff of Holden and Hope Hospice of Cape Cod for their compassionate care.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bruce's family from 4 to 7pm on Monday, November 27, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden followed by a service of remembrance honoring his life at 7 pm.
