BARRE - Bruce A. Towner passed away at home on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from a prolonged illness. He was 66. Born and raised in Worcester, Bruce was the son of Wayne and Rosemary (Wood) Towner and lived in Cherry Valley and Hardwick before moving to South Barre in 2007.
He worked as a machinist for Form Roll Die Corp. in Worcester and Accutrak Tool Corp in Cherry Valley. Bruce enjoyed vacationing at Hampton Beach, hiking and bike riding. He made friends wherever he went and was lovingly referred to as 'the Mayor of Peach Street."
Bruce's biggest joy in life was spending time with his family. His grandchildren affectionately nick named him, "grumpy grampa."
He was a proud member of Bill W's for many years.
He leaves his beloved wife, Natalie B. (Berryman) Towner; his son, Bruce M. Towner and his wife, Cassandra; a sister, Debra McDonald of Worcester; a brother, Steve Neale of Worcester; three grandchildren, Alexia, Dylan, and Jacob; several sisters-in-law, including Diana Towner, and several nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, Bruce is predeceased by three brothers, Michael, Dennis, and Jeffrey.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bruce's family from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 8th, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 9th, at Heritage Bible Church, 182 Brook Station Rd., Princeton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a local non-kill animal shelter of your choice.
